Terry Vance, ridinRa new Kawasaki, took the October 16 motorcycle Pro Stock Final at the NHRA World Finals at Irvine, California. Vance turned a 8.569-second run at 151.51 mph to defeat Kawasaki rider Randy Mason's 8.576/151.51 in the final round. Vance's first-round opponent was none other than his own business panner. tuner Byron Hines. Hines rode the pair's venerable Suzuki to top qualifying spot with an 8.569second pass. Vance and Hines later sold the Suzuki lo a spectator for an undisclosed sum. Lejeune topped the final standings with 156 points, Schreiber was second with 123 points, Thierry Michaud was third, Gilles Burgat was fourth and Gorgot rounded out the top five for 1983.
