IThe victory for Tim-was especially gratifying since it came on his 12th birthday. He put in a I-I moto performance, besting Chad Bailey and Cody Atkins. Bailey led briefly at the start of the first heat but succumbed to a spectacular mid-air pass by Hodes on 'the first ·Iap. After that, yoyng Hodes just pulled away, his lead b~¥,ger wi th every lap. In the second heat he quickly took the lead from Bailey and rolled on unimpeded to the checkered flag to make his claim on the big trophy for the evening. 'Older brother Hank had fellow Killeen rider Joe Alsop and Austin's Mike Daneault to contend with on his way to a I-I placing in the 250cc Novice running. He came from fourth to first in his initial tour of the track, finally getting by Daneault with two circuits remaining. Taking no chances in the second heat, Hodes led from start to finish, his only bit of difficulty coming on the third lap when he made a brief excursion off the track. Hodes swept the overall win over Kenneth Farmer and Daneault. Results MINIBIKE: 1. Tim Hodes (Kaw); 2. Chad Bailey (Yam); 3. Cody Atkins (Yam). 125 BEG: 1. Shawn Clevenger (Yam); 2. Orr BOYD, TX, AUG. 27 Randy Whisenant's new Kawasaki Good Times/Fisher Trim & Glass Kawasaki 250 short - tracker made the competition in the 250cc Senior class at Mike Kidd's Hillside Raceway sit up and take note. His first appearance in victory circle made the long weekly drive back to Lubbock seem a little shorter this Saturday night. Whisenant's night started in the first heat when he led Dwayne DuVal and David Fisher all the way for that win. Scott Scherb, on a Joe Gilbert Honda. won the second heat over John Gladwill and James Harrington. Whisenant led into the corner for the main with Gladwill, Scherb and DuVal close behind. The race had to be red-flagged, and on the second Lry Whisenant again led, followed by DuVal, Gladwill and Eldon Hultgren. On lap three Hultgren went down hard, to be replaced in fourth place by Greg DuVal. Lap four saw Dodd Dyson pass Greg and move into fourth for the next three Laps, but his motor seized on the front straight and Scherb and Fisher slipped by the younger DuVal into fourth and fifth places. Whisenant took the flag, but was pushed hard all the way by Dwayne DuVal,. with Gladwill following to finish in third place. .. Fox SuperShox ~ Dominate Kent ~~pe~M~p!~!na'~sati~t~!o~ e ~ 1.
