CIC") 00 Q") Denny Doherty skims through a tum in AFM Sears Point action. When the mayhem was sorted out, Roloff was in the lead, Mazur was in second and Garoutte was trailing in third once again. When the white flag came out, the pace quickened and Garoutte worked his way around Mazur, desperately trying to reel in Ro 10fL Garoutte was sliding his bike in every turn trying to catch the Kawasaki, and soon found himself sliding on his leathers instead. The race ended with Roloff taking the win, Mazur finishing in second and Ken Evan comfortably riding to third on his GS750. In sharp contrast to the more aggresive classes, the Vintage race offers a comradery unparalleled in the club. In this group of riders, a racer successfully nursing his antique around the track long enough to take the checkered flag is as much cause for celebration as a win. Today the class had assembled an especially exotic collection of machinery. These included a Ducati Diana MKIII, a BSA 350 Gold Star B32, and a Barilla Grand Sport. When the green flag dropped on the Vintage race, Fred Mark got into turn one first on his Yetman-Ducati. He was followed by Dave Troeschler, Chris Quinn and Gary Cole. Troeschler got by Mark in the carousel, and Mark was then passed by Cole and Quinn in tUrn 11. At the midway point, Cole's BSA started sputtering and he dropped off the pace, allowing Quinn and Mark to get by. Then two laps later, Cole's Beezer started working again. He reeled in Mark but was unable to catch Quinn before the checkered flag fell. The race ended with Troeschler taking a easy win on his 1965 Ducati Scrambler, Quinn finishing second on his 1965 Ducati Diana and Gary Cole finishing third on his 1955 BSA Gold Star. Flores up to the task at Baylands By Bill Spencer FREMONT, CA, AUG. 25 Fifteen-year-old Tony Flores continues to be the "baddest" at the best little Thursday night CMC motocross in the Bay Area, as he took the 125cc Pro win again. Rich My then was back to form and won the 250cc Pro show. Allen Silhanek led the first 125cc Pro moto on his MPE YZ and looked for all intents to be the fast kid around, but Flores started gassing it on the stadium-styled course and won in close racing. In the second round, it was the opposite, with Flores getting the best of the first turn and winning, while Silhanek had more than his fair share of troubles to finish third behind Craig Christian. Mike Minjares was the only l25cc Intermediate in town but worked extra hard and took the overall combined with the 25Occguys. Bob Zamoroni won the first mota on his Zoom Cycle special and was leading the second when the little kid on the 125 came zooming by for the win and the overall. Andy Urrutia took tops in the 80cc jr with a 2-1 over jesse Britian who won the first round but slipped a bit and took an eighth in the second to finish fifth behind Fen McDaniel, Shawn Moynihan and jeff Chalmas. Craig Christian easily won the first round of 250cc Pros on his Karl Motors/Cycle Gear Yamaha, with Rick Delong and Thea Bernhard out early. Andy Tressor took third to Rich Mythe.n on his Open Honda and DNF the second moto, while Mythen came to life for the first time in months and ran of( with the overall. Tim Tremaine, with a liule urging from Billy Grossi, took second in Davis turns it on at SIR By Bruce Scholten KENT, WA, AUG. 21 Totem Lake Honda-Kawasaki's Joe Davis took his mid-season surge to Seattle International Raceway today with a win and two seconds. In Formula One, john Doyle's Bellevue Suzuki monsterbike held Davis' Suzuki to second, ahead of john Brady's Kawasaki. "How can you lose with two hundred horsepower?" explained "Madhauer" Doyle. Finally recovered from his Westwood crash, Dan Zlock returned to win Superbike. Brother Dale was a bit miffed that he had to race his own Suzuki again, but managed fifth behind Mark Hislop's Suzuki. Claude Hislop had beaten joe Davis' Suzuki in the morning qualifying heat. But in the final, Davis managed to get by him for second place. The 750cc Production race was Davis' sweetest moment. His GPz750 is now dialed in and won the morning heat race. Davis and Larry Buck were first of( the line in the final. Buck led into the turn-two sweeper, then Davis passed him in the esses. Leading in tum eight, Davis left foot came off the peg and he almost ran 0(( the outside, and fell back by two seconds. Two laps later, Davis caught Buck's Interceptor and went by on the inside coming out of turn four. After that Davis disappeared. "I rode conservatively, because Davis is a hard charger, and I didn't want to jeopardize my season points lead," said Rainier Honda's Buck, who has the 750cc Prod championship virtually sewn up. Ted Connor's Precision Motorcycle Repair GPz took third over Ricky Giles' Interceptor. Results SUPERBIKE: 1. Dan Zlock (SUl); 2. Joe Devis (Kew); 3. Claude Hislop (Han). OPEN PROD: 1. Anderson, Mlchlltsch, Tyler take $1500 o Jackpot • By Brian Barnes 1 PORTLAND, OR, AUG. 11 The Washougal National must have loomed in the minds of almost every professional who opted not to participate in this year's annual PIR Pro Challenge. Only 12 Pro riders battled for top honors and a share of the $1500 guaranteed purse. A huge amateur turnout was once again on hand as was a nice crowd to watch York Yamaha/ MX Fox/ATK-sponsored jim Anderson score a 2-1 tally for the 125cc overall, while Eastside Kawasaki's Tim Michlitsch took both 250cc wins as did Maico Support rider Scott Tyler in Open.' . Due to the fact only three riders were entered in both I 25cc and Open classes, they were combined. Michlitsch, Anderson and Grayson Hart rounded turn one as the 125s got underway, with Tyler, Honda Support rider Arne Hettman and Montana's Mark johnstone, also on a Support Honda, making up the Open class. The race never changed, with all six riders holding the same positions they had taken on the start. The second round found Michli tsch leading Anderson until just after the midway sign and kept the Team Green rider at bay for the remainder, while Hart wasn't far of( the pace, taking another third. Tyler was again on top of the situation in the second Open round, with Johnstone scoring second after Heuman had a problem only two laps from the finish. The 250cc race had six riders entered and the top position belonged to Michlitsch from start to finish in both races. Anderson and Tyler were second and third during both races and also claimed those overal'l positions. Results WEE PEE WEE: ,. Jeff Lee (Han); 2. Jay Hesler (Vern); 3. Nethen Grevelle (Veml. PP: 1.
