Hans Giese took the win in the Amateur class. The Vet race had Charters going for his fourth overall win and afrer lap one he was doin!,: what he wanted. Wes Anderson was second with Richard Jackson third. Charters crossed the checkered first, making this his 21st overall win. Richard Jackson moved up and passed Anderson 10 take a second overall and first in the Open class. Anderson pulled in for third overall and second 25Occ. The women's race had a sore Jolene Payne taking the lead and staying there for the entire three laps. Payne had gOllen off hard pre-running the course but it didn't slow her down. Lori Farmer and Diane Holeman diced for the first lap, before Farmer dropped out. Holeman held on for second. m Results Dan Aahcraft (above) and Chris CrlIndall (below) split Open Expert wins on the weekend. D-37 ES action continues with Desert M.C. By Shirley Upp LUCERNE VALLEY, CA, AUG. J4 The Senior race was almost a repeat of the day before with Gary Charters leading all three laps for the overall win. Art 30 Knapp took another second, first Opert. Charlie Morris came in at third overall. Getting serious was Dave Kersting, who took fourth overall and a first in the C bike class. OP EX: I. D. I After leading for two laps, HunmCUll was slOpped cold when his bac tire disintigrated going into check three. Crandall took over the lead and held it for thefinish with Stearns pulling in for a second. After POSitive riding, Dave Chase finished a wellearned third. Finishing out his Amateur status, Rick Price took the win i~ this class. Jodie Partain took the overall Novice win. When the banner dropped Tim Sinclair went'to work and came around with the lead in the 250cc 'race. Mark Zoller had another good ride going as he came by at second. Third and fourth were Randy Morales and Ed Pierce Jr. On the Novice course it was Kevin Olen comirtg around with the lead and for three laps he would stay out in front. Forthree laps Sinclair never backed off and took first overall. Zoller held second as Pierce moved to third on lap two and stayed there. Phil Gor) gone kept the lead in the AmatueJ; class and took first. The C bike race had Eric Hallgath riding fast and furious, leading Tom Elias for two laps. On lap two Elias took the lead on the uphill past che~ two. Elias held on to take the check-, ered first and second was Hallgath. Brell Howell finished in third place despite a flat. Earl Shuler .almost hung up his great ride, thinking his front forks were gone. When he found the brake cable hung up, he fixed il and went on to take third, second 25Occ.SteveThompson took the Open Amateur class after leading all three laps. In the Novice class it was David Burson winning in the Open c1as~ with Dennis Wilson tops in the 250cc class. Lori Farmer led the women's race for ~e entire three laps as Jolene Payne took second with Diane Holeman third. It was Ricky Jackson (Kaw) taking the kid's race lead and holding it fO); five laps.
