MAY 22 While th e P ro s were racing for DeAnza's money, th e sportsman classes were racing for free tickets to Hawaii. Toda y a t DeAnza Cycle Park th e secon d round o f th e H awa iian Get-Away series took p lace. The ser ies consists o f th ree ra ces with eac h top rider in th e 125, 250cc and Open classes win n in g the tick ets. In th e 125cc Novi ce class Suz uki Country's Mik e G ill ies took hi s Suzuki to th e winner 's ci rcle a fter ca p tu ring th e win with a I-I score. G ill ies had to put u p wtih so me heavy presu re from Yamaha-mounted Steve Andre. T hroughou t rn oto one, the lWO battled si de-by-side. G illies, though, managed to keep his cool and ta ke the narrow win . T h ird went to H onda o f Red land 's David Ch urch (H o n ). Chris Mic klos (Hon ) settled for fourt h.
