OFACIAl CAR OF ASCOT PARK A lo t of fast ri d ing and a little bit of good luc k gave Suzukimounted Ken Owens the win in the Open Beginner class today at DeAnza Cycle Park. Owens roosted to th e front of th e pack at th e sta rt of moto one while Mourice Woods (H on ), Lonnie King (H on) an d Greg St. Clair (Hus) trailed. Early in the race. Owens and Woods enga ged in a duel for the lead, and Woods soon found himself in the lead . On the sam e lap St. Clair also snuck by King, tak ing over the third position. However, with three laps remaining, St. Clair went down and dropped back to fourth. Up front, Woods developed a comfortable lead which took him to the checkered £lag first ah ead of Owens , King and St. Clair. Owens again shot into the lead in the second moto just in ches ahead of Woods, St. Clair and King. By lap two Woods had already slipped by Owens for th e lead. The two leaders 47
