I can' t pass up too many of the early ones j us t because they aren't close because I m igh t have had lu ck or machi ne tro u ble lat e in the series a n d then I m igh t fail to ma ke th e tea m. T ha t means a lot of traveling, an d ,Mo nda y m orn in g I have to go to work. I spe n d a co up le of days cleani ng a nd maintainin g the bi ke a nd that mea ns I'm getting down to where there're just one or two days left in the week . There a re some other th ings I have to do because m an does not live by motorcycles alone. Seriously, what I'm saying is, I tra in more in the winter a n d sum mer and ride more in th e spring and fall. The mayor of Carnanchee, Pa u l Willis, who is also a pi pefitter, has let me layout an eight-mi le loop on city la n d down by the river. II's onl y a sh ort ride from m y h ouse and that m akes it han dy if I only want to ride for an hour o r so . If I had to load th e' bike and haul it someplace, I wouldn 't ride as much. My diet has become important to me. I've read a lot about supplements an d vitami ns and learned a lot more fro m talking to people like Terry Cu nn ingh am and Dick Burleson. You know Dick has never smoked a cigare tte or taken a drink in his life and I swear he knows more about n u tri tion than anyone I've ever talked to . There will be one th ree-da y Qualifier in Oklahoma a n d that will be good because th e one-day events just don 't gi ve th e new riders the experience the y need to prepare them for a Six Day. .
