In the first round, Vance ran a record 8.403-second ET at a record 166.79mph. Vance backed those numbers up in both the second round and his final run, which wa. an 8 .46/164.37. Ontario Moto Tech will rece ive limited support from American Honda in Ontario's bid for the WERA Endurance Championship. They will field a CB11 OOF·based Superbike ridden by Lynn M iller and Luther Wykle of Alabama. Miller and Wykle were winners of four WERA races in 1982. Additionally, they will provide r ace engine support for Team Cowboy of Canton, OH. Team Cowboy won the 1982 WERA Endurance Cham· pionship with OMT engines. Bruce Og ilvie , Chuck Mill er , Tom Kell y and Bob R u tten will handle th e riding chores for the all fou r-stroke-mounted team. Ogilvie will handle the team manager duties as wel l. They will run XR H ondas in a ll th e SCORE races and o ther selected off-roa d races. In addi tion they will co ntest th e one, two and th ree-da y qual ifiers wi th an eye on attendi ng the IDSE . All will be XR500 mounted in the off-roa d events, but Og ilvie will be on a n XR350 in th e 500cc class at th e q ua lif iers and Tom Kell y will run an XR200 in the 250cc class. Word is th a t three-wh eel engine b uilder Curtis Spa rks will do the engi ne on the 200. Mi lle r and Rutten will run XR 500s in th e Quali fiers .
