Ogilvie wins Viewfinder GP Pafrizier Pro 1. 00 By Kenneth Stein RIVERSID E, CA, MAR. 5-6 Bruce Ogilvie and his booming Honda XR500 were best today at motocross squared. Not 20 riders , 400. Not 10 miles, 100. Lap times of 15 minutes. Each lap was 10 miles long ; eac h race, th ree hou rs. The scene was the 15th annual Viewfinders Grand Prix at R iverside International Race- 28 wa y. Ten months of planning a nd negotiating and three weeks of preparation and setup cu lminated in one of the most successfu l and smoothl y run Viewfinders ever. One of the biggest attractions during the weekend was the Patrizier Pro race, won by Team Honda 's Ogilvie. Ogi lvie sta rted the race in 10th p lace and began climbing through th e ranks at a slow, even pace. In marked contrast was the progress made by J im Holley. Holley's Yamaha started just ahead o f Ogilvie, but charged through the pack to grab the lead before the end of the second lap. He crashed on the firth lap, and by th e time he was up again, Rich ard Hansing (Yam) had taken th e lead . Holly took orr agai n, fro m sixt h place, with Ogilvie just ahead. Charging again, he passed Bruce and two others within a lap. On the eighth lap, first Craig Adams, then Ogilvie squeezed past a tiring Holley, and all three caught an d passed the second place rider. When new leader Larry Roeseler (H us) dropped out on th a t same lap, Adams ha d th e lead. Bu t Ogil vie, who ha d paced hi mse lf adm ira bly, took first on the £inal lap and held off the exhausted pack all the way to the flag for the lion's share of the purse.
