Clemson collects CRC Saddleback mudocross win By Tom Corley ORANGE, CA, JAN. 23 On the last chance to qualify for Anaheim Stadium, true motocross racerscame toSaddleback and faced a watered-out 22 -. - track which turned the event into a Mudocross. The park's bulldozer had to clear parking spaces in order for everyone to enter the park. This delayed the event by hou rs and the first race went off close to noo n . Amazingly, eight races formed and the two rnotos ended before darkness. A great effort was put forth by both California Racing Club and Saddleback which made the event possible. At the bouom of the starting hill, below Webco tower, there was a formation of deep grooves that the bigger bikes cleared with no problem, but the Mini riders found it to be quite a 1~1l~,!::~~~M4~i_s pulled th eir ent ries, others braved it and a good line-up form ed. Soon Colston dropped back and Kawasaki rider Dan Southworth moved up and took over third. Southworth zapped Eary as they flew over a jump. Southworth was de termined to catch the leader, Clemson . As th ese two approached the j um p where Eary was passed, Southworth flew by Cle mso n to take over the lead and win the first mo to. The secon d moto was in Clemson's favor as bo th South wo rt h and Colston DNF. Clemson was followed by Ted Cordts at first and Cordts took a stab at the lead. Soon Cordts dropped back and Do ug Huff and common winner Jon Barr ick moved up to second and third positions. These two followed Clemson through th e checkered.
