Shox and his ow n swingarm bridging help keep power to th e asphalt. Retu rn ed to racing and one of Skiver's biggest challenges is Bob Loose. Ona Wasco-modified GS I000, "Fast Bobby's" slightly ported twovalve head is a little down on power. In the firs t Form u la One heat, he too k forth behind Pa t Mari nacci 's H on da 9OOF. Ch uck Wiley ma naged a second, rid ing hard on a pretty stock GSllOO. In hea t two, Skiver eased of£ a bit. Loo se diced wi th hi m , leadi ng laps two and three. Chuck Wiley had th ir d sewn up, or so we thought. Meanwhile, Z-I mounted Steve Dick grabbed fourth [rom Pat Mariacci, who didn't much care--his bett er first heat guaranteed him fourt h overall. Skiver 's wh eeli es (nea r the startfini sh lin e) electrified th e crowd, but Loose was still bucking [or the lead. Skiver pulled out the stops but braked too hard in downhill turn three. When the rear wh eel returned to eart h , it cha ttered so hard he had to let orr all the brak es, running in to th e escape road . Still uprigh t, he reente red where he'd left th e track. Loose was 10 yards ahead, but Skiver some ho w reeled hi rnjn to take the checkered flag first, Chuck Wiley and Steve Dick qu ibled Iuriously over th ird p lace. Wiley go t serious and stuf£ed his Su zuk i as ha rd as he cou ld th rou gh turn 10, h ighsiding across the S-F in th ird p lace. His bike didn't loo k as bad as he fell and Chuck popped up, happy wit h hi s o verall second p lace. H e also won Open Production. but out of the I25cc class he looks to be a hot prospect. Watilo ca me through the pack at a blistering pace to settle into second with a lap to go, but Keller was way too far out front to catch. Keller rode on to win while Wati lo, Bozart h , H eu inga , Pippert, Smith and Skeet H ise (DG / Eastside Kaw) followed. Moto two once again saw a yellow bl ur speed to the front of the pack which was bei ng piloted by Kirkpatrick, who stayed on two wheels this rink Keller, Watilo, Bozart h and Terry Wise (Yam) tried to keep the leader within their sig hts. Kirkpatrick yielded to Watilo, who had Keller hot on hi s heels, on the first la p . Who ever won th e moto between th e two would get th e overall. Keller got by Watiloafter a tu ssle with th ird beign owned by Bozarth, H ett inga not far beh ind. The Open Pros and Experts were combined. Shoppen took off in complete contro l with Ted Devol (DeVol Eng. KTM ) and Ben Gr able (Alba ny Hon ) foll owing. Shoppert had no problems taking the win as DeVol claimed second and Grable th ird. Moto two had it Shoppert's way. H e ca me around th e tra ck at a sol id pace to outdistance DeVol and Grabl e who were aga in forced into runners-up honors. .- Results OPEN PRO: 1.
