Shawn is on a tear - that's two trophies in the last two weeks and three for the year here at the Commotion By The Ocean. Andy Northrup, who's got to be the next rider to get the chance to ride First Division, won the D-2 main by miles for the second time in three weeks. Andy made everyone look equally silly in his heat, winning by plenty and thrilling to no end the 800 or so fans indifferent to the fortunes of the Lakers. Mike Smart, carried away last week, won the Third Division ma in that for the second consecutive week disintegrated into a Brian DePalma movie (on wheels). There were plenty of crashes, red nags and two restarts. Finally, no one was left except Smart and runner-up Robby Stone. moments after a turn two crash tonight at the Ventura Raceway . King was referring to the American Speedway Final June 12 at Long Beach. Last year he was too young; this year ...too bad. The accident happened in the Handicap main. Rob Pfeuing finally caught up to the leader, Tim McCasland, between turns one and two on the second lap. Pfeuing tried to go underneath, the bikes slammed together, and Rob got by with a bobble, leaving McCasland wobbling and in the path of Buddy Robinson - "The Bud Man" - who crashed into Mc Casland, sending both riders sprawling in a real bone cruncher. King, innocent of all blame, was trailing and suddenly had nowhere to go and crashed into a fallen bike , fell and broke his collarbone. Actually, everyone was innocent of all blame; it was just one of those th ings. King, earlier, was obviously in no mood for such an ending.
