Oops NIght for NovIces at Corona MX By Kit Palmer CORONA, CA, MAY 28 Racing this evening at Corona Raceway was a little bit more exciting than usual when the Supercross section of whoops, 44 normally reserved for Intermediates and Pros, were opened to the Beginner and Novice ranks. Many were expecting some heavy-duty £lying Ws, but throughout the night there were only a few spills. In the l25cc Novice class it was Kenny Guyett (Kaw) of Rincon Kawasaki who swept the competition under the carpet after he cleaned up in both motos. Guyett grabbed the holeshot in both motos and led every lap for the win. Guyett's closest competitor was Honda-mounted Rob Edwards. Edwards, in the first moto, gave Guyett a fight but he couldn't keep up with Guyette's smooth and fast pace. Edwards took second while jerry Arsenault (Kaw) settled forthird. Holding the throttle open just a ' fraction of a second longer than Edwards, Guyett took the holes hot at the start of the second rnoto. Within a few turns Guyett had developed a slight lead over Edwards and Arsenault. But the real battle took place over second between Edwards and Arsenault. Near the end of the moto Arsenault made his move and took over second. Guyett went on to take the win followed by Arnsenault and Edwards. . Riverside Suzuki's Bruce Harcrow (Suz) took command of the 125cc Intermediate class after he combined a 1-2 score for the win. Harcrow's closest competitor was Mark Urseth (Suz). Urseth rode to a 2-3 score for second overall. Third went to second motowinnerChris Lance (Kaw) while Paul Herman (Kaw) settled for fourth. By night's end, after battling with 13 Mini Beginner riders, it was Chad Smart who emerged with the victory. Smart rode to two £lawless wins ahead of second place finisher jerry Mills (Yam) . Mills combined a 5·2 tally, edging out Tony Magallanes's (Suz) 4·3 combination. David Tanghe (Yam) had to be content with fourth. Results 50 PEE WEES: 1. Dave Ochoa (Vam: 2. D.
