Speedway The 1982 Costa Mesa Speedway season marks the 14th year of speedway in Orange County. Racing-begins at 8:00 p.m. Speedway racing in America has enjoyed tremendous growth in the last decade. Under the original and continuing management , the Costa Mesa event has become the most successful weekly motorcycle event in the country, drawit?g 150,000+ paid attendees per seaso n. This year will be, by far , the most exciting yet as International Speedway, Inc., has an American Speedway Final planned for June 12 at Long Beach Veteran's Stadium. Bruce Penhall will be competing in both of these events as the 1981 World Speedway Champion, the first U .S. World Speedway Champion in 44 years. Cycle Swap Meet Inter-Shows will present their always successful swap meet in conjunction with Cycle News Night. The all-indoor swap meet opens at 6 p.m. and closes at 10:00 so come early! These events are always a sellout and the crowd should be the largest ever.
