This 40 kept the turnout down but th e MX gods took over whe n practice began to keep the ra ins awa y until th e ra cing was completed. T here were plenty of puddles to avoid at the edges of the tra ck . but we didn't lose a soul. T he top series winners in severa l classes came right do wn to the fina l mo to . T he 125cc Junio r class was the tightest of all. Only six points separated Da rryl Waddl e (Suz), J on Niem i (Hon) and Chris Stu der (Suz). With 20 points riding on today's win, it behooved them all to ha ng in th ere, a nd ha ng they did . . Niemi led th e first mo ro WIre to wire . Denni s Campbell (Yam) ent ered to day with a slightly bigger cus hion in the 250cc J u nior series , but he still had to add a few points today to maintain his lead. What at first appeared to be shaping up as a good 125ccPro battle ne ver quite materialized. Sta cy Thornton (Suz) led with Robb Manning (Suz) right behind him . Ted Holt (Suz) was clear at the back of the pack but came charging th rough to third on the th ird loop. It looked like a good tight race shaping up between the three before oU~look. , Holt dropped off the pace. Manning held just behind Thornton the entire moto. Moto two was just about a rerun ex cept Holt started in fourth . When asked later why he lagged behind without making a charge, Manning said it was a borrowed bike and slow. Manning's story was extremely different in the 250cc Pros. Steve Sm ith (Yam) led the charge in both motos , but Manning and his new Honda went by and disappeared in both. Smit~ picked up rwo seconds , and Brad Ellis (Suz) was third. Santa arrived on a motorcycle with a bag full of goodies which he and a good looking helper ha nded out to all the little kids . The big kids got a treat . too , when the helper handed out th e series trophies. Results PEE WEEJR: 1. J...,n Webber (Yam ). PEE WEE EX: 1. Grant Bergstrom (Yam); 2. Justi n Stanning ISuzl .
