Mac attacks while Bell tolls at Corona By Kit Palmer . CORONA , CA , DEC. II The highlight of the evening last Friday night at Corona Raceway was a one-mote; seven-lap match race between Malcolm Smith Motorcycles. Malcolm Smith Products and Answer Products. It was a good excuse for the ern ployees to get out and have some fun and get thrashed . For some it was the first time to ride a motorcycle in years . Taking part in this event was Super. cross star Mike Bell. riding a works Yamaha , and Malcolm Smith himself. Smith acted as team manager. Bell , at a so called "disadvantage," started be hind the starting line of 30 riders. When the gate dropped it was the trio of Eric MacCracken, Don Griewe and Scott Bell who rocketed into the lead . All eyes were on Mike Bell as he passed 22 riders by the end of the first lap. During the third lap Bell took over third. then engaged in a -ba ttle with Griewe for second . When the white flag appeared Bell put the move on Griewe , but time was out for Bell and there was no chance of catching the winner. MacCraken. who rode for the M.S. retail store. In the end it didn't really seem to matter who won , but they all agreed. "That was a blastl" High school action continued last Friday when Hemet took the win only nine points ahead of the second place school of Arlington. 155 -146. The point spread between the third a nd fourth place was even tighter as Tustin narrowly edged out Moreno Valley, 87 ·85. Another Hemet rider, Shaun Hansen (Hon). added points by placing third each time ou t . In the 125cc Novice class , Jay Spear (Suz) of Tustin led every lap in both rnotos to take the win in front of Moreno Valley's Tom Trarbaugh (Kaw) , who tallied a 2-3 score. Third went to Hemet's Tim Brown after he posted a 4·2 combination. Once again Eric MacCracken (Yam) continued his domination of the 250cc P ro class by winning. both mo tes in front" of Monclair Yamaha 's Greg Zit terkopf.
