At the finish line (Rocky Point) it was Rick Ha tch , taking first in Class 6, with a time of three hours and 44 minutes for the grueling 124 miles . Mike Smothers At check two, it was MikeJoskobiak, aboard a Honda 1855 , taking first in Class 5 (240cc). Following Joskobiak was Jeff McConnick taking firs t in Class 2 (125cc) riding a 125cc Yam a ha . Class 4 (205cc) winner was Shawn Darr. Mel Nichols , riding a 175cc Yamaha, took first in Class 5 (175cc) and Debbie McConnick, also on a 175cc Yamaha, took first in Class 7 (Powder Puff). Larry Rodgers riding a 1l0cc Honda took Class 1 (llOcc) honors. The Sonoita to Rocky Point race was the last race of the ADRA 1981 Points season. January 24 will be ADRA's second three-wheel race and it will be in Gila Bend, Arizona. The sun made -a rare appearance during the race which made for a tacky track , except for one spot we named the "big gulp," which instead of 52 ounces of refreshing Oregon mud, it was 52 feet of soup. Likens made his move on Smothers going through the woods, but was just as quickly re-passed. Buggies left t he starting line (Sonoita) first with the motorcycles lea ving second and the three-wheels leaving last. . . Buggies, motorcycles and ThreeWheel Class 6 (250cc) had to race a grueling 124 miles to Rocky Point, while all other three-wheel classes raced to check fOint two (49 miles).
