The competition was tough, the
terrain was tougher and the weather
was the toughest.
But nothing could stop Chuck
Steams andJeff Kaplan from winning
the grueling 100 mile Beatty to Las
Vegas desert run.
Both Chuck andJeff flew into Las Vegas-on a pair ofHondas
powerful new 1982 CRs.
Atrip which featured rain, sno\v, freezing temperatures
and some of the worst terrain in the country. Conditions which
broke mo~t ofthe competition even before they got to Las Vegas.
But didn't seem to affect Chuck, Jeff or their 1982 CRs.
In fact, both had already picked up their trophies while the
competition was still picking up the pieces.
Everything didn't tum out bad for the competition though.
At least they learned their unlucky numbers before they got to
Vegas:
CR480R and CR250R.
And they learned a useful gambling tip. If you want to beat a
full house ofcompetition, all you need is a pair ofHondas.
Ridden by a pair ofaces.
