Kern County FaIr Grounds lights up as three and four wheelers perform By Billy Shepus FRESNO. CA, OCT. 3 &.4 The main attraction Saturday and Sunday at the Kern County Fair Grounds, were the threewheeler and Odyssey races. The evening kicked off with some of the best short track. races we have seen all season. Each class ran three eight lap heat races, only the top eight in each class would qualify for the 15 lap main on Sunday. Sunday's races began with the threewheelers starting it off_ The most outstanding three-wheeler race of the eve· ning was the 152cc to 200cc class, this was the fifth race of the evening. Ernie Lyles was in the lead while right at his heels was Curtis Sparks. The two of them were lapping the pack. due to a crash holding up the other riders. The last and final lap, while going through heavy traffic, Sparks' riding ability showed through as he passed just in ti~e for the checltered flag and the WUl. The second half of the program was as exciting as the first. The most eye catching Odyssey race was the fourth race on the program, the Modifieds. The race was led by Rick Martin fol· lowed by Rob Ely. If not for Martin's cool handling and driving ability, Ely would have had the race at anytime. Ely gave the fans quite a show with his taking the outside line with a full power slide through the comers. Even with this, Ely couldn't overpower Martin for the win. ,fTf' Results ATC 70 KIDS: 1. _ Jon.; 2. Merk Hyedt. ATC POWDER PUFF: 1. Dion Lyteo; 2. Joenn Hol_. ATC 108-125: 1. TerTV Moody; 2.
