But. on Sunday it was a different story. Weaver in turn detuned his buggy and went down a class. playing the same game as Longerot. Three rounds of points were available this time, but Longerot went out in the fIrst round and Weaver went on to win Bracket 5. same group. and actually gained more points. and still remains on top of the heap in the Group A overall points standings. It was a strategy game for certain, and was interesting, especially for drivers trying to fInd the range to actually go slower...to win a race. It can only happen in Bracket racing and you have to be there to see what was going on! . More an more of the popular threewheelers were present during the "Super-Tuner" as that trend continues to grow and has become the newest type racing machines to enter the sand drag competition. David Cox of Long Beach. CA. is possibly one of the fIm three-wheeler pilots in ASRA sand drags. Cox brought out his completely modifted three-wheeler when ASRA began racing at the Ontario Motor Speedway. and he's still using the same one and winning with it. Cox won both days, once in Bracket 13 on Saturday and Bracket 1l! on Sunday during the "Super-Tuner. " Because of this new trend of threewheelers in sand drag competition. and National widespread general interest. next year ASRA will include three new classes for t.hree-wheelers: (1) An Unlimited class. (2) super Modifted (5) A Modifted class_ Class requirements and safety standards for these and all the new classes will be published in the November and December issues of Sandtag Magazine. The "All Comers" type Bracket races will playa big part of the ASRA schedule next season. in an effort to develop a regular southern California racing program at Riverside. As a matter of fact. the 1982 Bracket points season will actually start this year with a one day event scheduled for Dec. 6.
