While the number of entries in
the 205cc Three-Wheeler class
was disappointing, the exhibition
race they ran wasn't. Billy Patterson, Gary Harvard and Dale Lindroth
kept the front wheel in the air on the
front stright and their entries sideways
thru the tumI to show the fans that
Three-Wheelers are made for short
tracking. The applause from the fans
made it evident they're looking
forward to more Three-Wheel racing.
The largest clus of the evening was
the Cycle Kans. After the action
packed main a lot of the "retired" dirt
trackers among the spectators left with
plans to stuff their old engines into a
kart frame, proving that once you've
done it sideways no other way feels
quite the same. Danny Wight and
John Crowder kept up a fierce battle
for the number one position with
Wights' Yamaha 400 powered kart
finally taking the win over Crowder's
Kawasaki 250 ~wered entry. David
Stone was a OR!lrd ID a 465cc
Yamaha entry, with William Smart,
Suzuki 500, and Quinn Holu, Yamaha !l6O, rounding out the top five spots.
Bruce Dorsey, from Gainesville Speed
Center, deserves a lot of thanks for his
help with the Kart cllllg,
In the Modified Odyssey class Glenn
Hubbell led the way with Ronnie
White and Barry Mann leading the
remainder of the nine staners. The
Ocala fana really enjoyed the Odysseys
as the action never stops - even when
they're upside down.
