Russ Collins retires Honda lbp Fuelet; the Sorceret; with a victory atOCIR Winston World Finals. Making 14 foot motorcycles disappear is no easy trick. Making one go a quarter mile in 7.36 seconds isn't much easier. . But thats just what Russ Collins and his Honda Top Fueler, the Sorcerer, did to earn a victory in the seasons final NHRA drag race. And its what they've been doing for the last six years. The Sorcerer, like all of Russs Hondas, is a record setting Top Fu~ler. And holder ofthe all-time record for top speed at the end ofa quarter mile. 199.55 mph. An amazing feat that was done without the help ofany mirrors. It was done with an engine based on Hondas original 750 cc SOHC four-cylinder design. One that still uses standard Honda crankcases and crankshaft. The same parts that help make your competition disappear on the street. NoW; while it isn't customary to reveal how a Sorcerer does his tricks, we're going to make an exception. Seeing as this was the Sorcerer's last race. And because all it will do is prove that age-old adage. Th~ Hondas quicker than the eye. F()UOW· THE LUDER 9
