These heavy Wet W8IIther at the Westwood road race produced 8 raft of tire changes. rode to victory as Sacramento Raceway ran the final MX of the Hi-Point Series. A large crowd showed up to watch 17 motos of Pro and sportsman riders make their last bid for the trophies and prizes provided by Sacramento RaceWay, Hi-Point Distributors, PCP Yamaha, MlltM Cycle Center and Williams and Dunn InSluance. A special treat of the night was watching Factory Fox rider Mark Pascarala pilot his Yamaha mini-missile through the first moto of the mixed 60cc Novice/Powder Puff classes. PascaraIa showed off his little Fox suspenders by launching off jump one and clearing jump two of the double jumps; a feat unmatched by many of the larger Intermediate riden. He finished ahead of all the Mini and Powder Puff riders. Dana Waxham holeshot the first U5cc Pro moto, followed by Dan Turner, Jay Cook and Steve Arena. Waxham and Turner took off on a race of their own while Cook and Arena fought off Greg Michales, Mark Zeissler and Ken McKenzie. The Cook/ Arena battle lasted two laps before both riders made a sudden move to the back of the pack. McKenzie rode on past Zeissler and Michales and held third to the finish. Waxham took the checkers after a near perfect run; the result of constant pressure from runnerup Turner. Michales led the way through tum one of the second moto and pulled away from Waxham and Turner who were at it again. leissler, Cook and McKenzie followed. Arena was squeezed out of the first tum and ended up half a lap down from the action. McKenzie got by Cook and the order stayed the same to the finish: Michales, Waxham, Turner, leissler and McKenzie. Mter tum one, the 250cc Pro batting order was: Jimmy Robertson, Mark Andria, Tom McKinney and Dave Wood. McKinney passed Andris on lap one and began working on Suzukimounted Robertson. McKinney tailed Robertson for two laps before passing him in the finish tum. Wood, who had passed Andria in lap two, moved UP'to tailgate Robertson, but never got by. Finish: McKinney, Robertson and WOOd. Wood outpowered the pack in moto two, gaining a solid lead ahead of McKinney and Robertson. The three spread out for a couple of laps and then Robertson began to close the gap between himself and McKinney. The two flew side by side over the double jumps, but Robertson could not established the lead. Riding WFO, the pair locked horns in the following tum and went down. Andris rode past, but Robertson regained third by beating McKinney to the saddle. McKinney retired two laps later when his Kawasaki suffered its recurring case of twisted shift drum; the same problem that caused McKinney to give up his lead the previous week. Checkers: Wood, Andria and Robertson. Hi-Point sponsored Dave Wood guided his Yamaha to the lead in the first Open Pro moto. Mark Stirling took the number two spot, but lost it to Dan Turner before the end of the lap. Peter Phillis was in overdrive from turn one, passing Paul Vogel, Mark Hannum and Stirling in the first two laps. The three leaders spread out evenly and held the order - Wood, Turner, Phillis - to the finish. Steve Arena won the drag race in moto two, but couldn't keep the bike up through the tight turns at the lap end. Wood became the new leader with Turner, Vogel and the rest of the pack all squeezing past Arena. Dave Rose outgassed Vogel in the backfl.eld straight and Phillis moved up to pressure Vogel. Phillis and Vogel diced for a couple of laps until Phillis outflew Vogel over the double jumps. After that, it was Wood, Turner, Rose aI)d Phillis. • Results 60 NOV: 1. OM Nichola lSuz); 2.
