Tracy Oswell put his Maico's power to the ground as the gate dropped for the first Open Pro moto, and stayed in the lead until the checltered flag was displayed. Second went to Bakersfield Yamaha rider Darin Oliver, while Montclair Yamaha's Greg Zitterkopf made his way through the pack to finish third. In the second mota LOP Suzuki rider Mike Brown jumped into the lead ahead of litterkopf and Oswell. The order remained that way, and Oswell came up the overall winner, Zitterkopf picked up second and third overall went to Mark White, who tallied a 4-5 score on his BG Oil/ International Yamaha-sponsored YZ. In the 125cc Pro race it was a lead change almost every lap. JD Racing's . John Langhammer picked up the lead from the gate, but he went down and turned it over to Super Seer Suzuki rider Allen Hopper. Hopper gave up the lead to Yamaha support rider Steve Schmitz. and when Schmitz went out, O'Neal Distributing-sponsored Suzuki rider Ted Brady took it over and, truth being stranger than fiction, hdd on to win the moto. Second went to Suzuki·mounted Roger Hensley and third to International Yamaha rider Doug Gentry. The second moto saw LOP Suzuki pilot Mike Brown lead holeshot to checkered flag ahead of Hensley and Brady. Overall it was Hensley and Brady taking the first two overall positions while a 5-4 score was good enough to give third to Louie Franco and hisCRF Yamaha. Honda teammates Johnny O'Mara and Donnie Ha~ treated the spectators to some of the best racing of the day in the 250cc Pro ranks. In the first moto O'Mara shot off into the lead followed by Hansen. Hansen kept the pressure on O'Mara, but ended up unloading in one of the back comers. That left first place wide open for Johnny O· as International Yamaha's John Whelchel moved into and held second, with third going to Track N Travel Maico rider Ed Arnet. Hansen recovered to take fourth. The second moto began with Hansen living up to his "Holeshot" nickname and taking the lead over O'Mara and Whelchel. O'Mara and Hansen bauled the entire way, but at the fmish Hansen still had the point position. Overall, it was O'Mara, Hansen and Whelchel. see Results 125 PRO: 1. Roger HenoIey (Suz); 2.
