era Ne.acla. So.traera Call1orala·Arl.oaa.so.tbera Nevada Mike Morrison rides with a Roost Factory team jersey and made that shop look good this evening by winning, the second division of the 125cc Juniors. Eric Nago shot Morrison down in the first mota but the final mota was completely his. Morrison's 2I beat Nagao's 1-3 score as well as Dennis Chafe's 3-4 total. Matthias Nikolakopulos has got to have the longest name in motocross. His name is becoming well known because he is a winner and tonight he took second in the third division of 125cc Juniors. Nikolakopulos complained about the way the first moto was started, saying he was still trying to put on his goggles when the starter frred them off. Even with his delayed start Nikolakopuloswas able to work his way up to third place behind Eddie Craig and winner Larry Bohlken. Getting a better start in the final mota helped Nikolakopulos to take first place ahead of Bohlken and Craig. Overall it was Bohlken, Nikolakopulos, Craig, Rod Colburn and Jim Rutherford. Olson plays In Old nmers'Saturday ouUng By Bob Alloy ORANGE, CA, JULY 25 There were 24 red-jerseyed Old Timers at Saddleback to tackle an always challenging track and in some places it's an "I sure hope I made it" type of track, especially in thole drop offs. However, sand has been added to cenain sections which adds considerably to the ridability of the track. Master "Mavin' Marv" Olson lived up to his reputation and wrapped up both motos. Just watch Marv for some mota expertise. Joe Brown looked very much the Master too, as he put his Suzuki into second place both times. Expert Dick Mosley, our president, left all others in the dust as he quickly dominated the action not only in the first mota but again in the second. Rick Siemmer took second in moto one and BUZl Moeller blasted in with third. The second mota's second place' winner was Bob Berdyck. Then it was Cal Browning following Berdyck in with a third. Amateur Ed Scheidler has really been winning lately and today was certainly no exception as he dominated the track in both motos to wrap up first overall. Manny Dauber was looking good as he gOt his Maico into second both times. Melvin Shapero blasted his way through the checkered in firt place in both Novice motos. Everett Hatler took the second spot overall. Results MASTERS: 1. Morvin Olson ISuzI; 2. Joe Brown ISull. EX: 1. Dick Mosley (Yom); 2. Bob Bordyck (Mai); 3. Col Browning IC·A). AM: 1. Francis dances to CRC mlnlcross win By Lee Taylor VALENCIA, CA,JULY 24 At the California Racing Club's bi-weekly night minicorss, a wild and wooly pack of minis took to the turf for the 83cc Stock 12 and over race. Scott Francis, piloting a Yamaha for his dad, fought hard to hold Honda rider Rod Sassen to second and Richard Bates, on the Trojan Truck Honda entry to third, but a rider went down and as red and black flags were whipped out, the racers returned to the line. The restart saw Billy Abbot turn his Kawasaki laDle and out in front of the pack, but Sasaen and Francis were soon locked into a wheel-clashing duel for the lead that plummeted them deep into every berm and over the jumps. Chris Lose found some breathing space in third with a battle royaIe going down between Mike Henline and Bates for fourth. With the top four mere inches apart it was anyone's race. When the finish line loomed into sight, Francis emerged the victor and led the way. Lose followed, a close second with Bates rounding out the tOP three. When the machines blasted off the grid for their second round it was Francis leading the pack. He had Bates purshing hard from the rear, followed by Henline, Lose and Abbot. A second tight and hairy battle can· tinued down to the wire with Francis wheeling his Yamaha into the winner's circle. Bates took home second place gold and Henline took third, for fourth overall. Third overall went to Lose. The Pee Wees scrambled for the lead in their tint mota with the notorious Jeue James (Yam) leading. James found Jason Biggs (Yam) riding shotgun, and they dueled to the end. Holding third and fourth were Damon Huttman (Perfection Carpets IIj) and Greg King. When the mota drew to a close, James led the way followed by Biggs and Huttman. When the gate dropped for the second round it was Biggs out for gold. He held James to second with Bobby Garcia (PG Enterprises Yam) in third. When the checkered flag waved the warrion home, Biggs took home the gold, James collected second place loot and Huttman, with a 3-4 ride, collected third overall. - Results 60 STOCK JR: 1.
