Relsln.er ruleCRc Saddleback MX By John Bethea ORANGE, CA, JUNE 28 Having your name begin with an R seemed to be the key to success at the California Racing Club's Saddleback motocross, as Rick Rogers and Roben Reisinger rode to victory in the 125 and 250cc Pro classes, respectively. Rogers dominated the 125cc Pros this outing, coUecting wins in both motos and leading the second race aU 12 laps. In the first, Tim Murphy (Suz) roared to the early lead with Rivenide Suzuki's Rodgen trailing in second, just ahead of Tim Shelton (Yam). By the midway point, Rodgen had ended Murphy's lead and much of the attention had turned to the drive of Richard Sands (ST Racing Suz). Sands had gotten a poor start and had waited until the fourth lap before making much of a challenge. However, when he did begin to move, he moved! It wasn't long before he had caught both Shelton and Murphy to flOd himself in second place, but his comefrom-behind march began too late and the checkered appeared before he could catch Rodgen. Shelton wound up third. Sands was again putting together a charge by the fourth lap of the second moto when he crashed, remounted in sixth and eventuaUy worked his way back up to third, but out of any chana: at the tint-place prize package. Shelton was on the move, too. He had been dicing with Roben Green (Suz) and had found hitnaelf in third place lap five, trailing second place Murphy. But, two laps later, a rough spi1l on the uphiU side of the track near the stan hill, sent Tim to the pits for the rest of the day. Murphy held on for second, but his failure in the tint moto to hold any kind of a lead COlt him second overaU. Sands, coming back again, took the runner-up spot with a 2-11 finish while Murphy totalled 5-2Green-clad Reisinger (Kaw) has not been around Saddleback on Sundays for several months, but he made his return a suca:ssful one with a sweep of both 250cc Pro motos. A fifth place stan in the first moto gave both Ron Hume (Yam) and Robert Marino (Yam) chances to lead early, but they joined everyone else behind Reisinger as the fifth lap concluded. Reisinger was not as slow in the sec0nd event, moving to second place by the finish of the tint lap, and lOto fint by passing Hume on the third. In each round, Marino was able to handle Humerorsecondplaa:. • Results JR CYCLE NOV: 1. JlIIan McFal,u:llVoml. JR CYClE !NT: 1. . - er-. (Yom!; 2. Duale DeArma1 (yomI; 3. John _ I V..... MN BEG: 1.
