Let's face it. The second thing the caveman
who designed the wheel did was build another
one for his buddy so they could race.
It took. man centuries of R&D before
he successfully linked three wheels together as a practical, functioning unit,
but now that he's done it, yes Virginia,
they race 'em.
A long-time motorcyclist looking at
three-wheeler racing will probably feel
tugs of nostalgia. Right now, in 1981,
three-wheeler racing is at the same
stages that motorcycle racing was back
when many of WI first discovered it. It's
small. In fact, there's no single all·
encompassing sanctioning body, no
"AMA" to organize such things as
rules and series on a national level.
For the most part, the organizing
bodies are small local groups; clubs,
race tracks, or in some cases, motor·
cycle sanctioning associations like
CRC, CMC and R.A.C.E. in southern
