Team Yamaha's Bob Hannah didn't let the flu
10 and double ear infections get in the way of the
250cc overall, and teamII\flte Broc Glover used
a 1-2 tally to once again top the 500cc class in
the Super Spons-promoted Mr.
PiBB National Championship
MX rounds at Sunshine S..-dr-way.
Last year the National at St. Pete
was run in late August, when temperalUreS were extremel~ high, 10 this ~n
the race was held 10 early June 10 an
attempt to beat the heat. That wasn't
to be, however. as Sunday's race was
run at the 100 ~ mark with relatively high humidity. It was a game of
conditioning. Stamina and endurance
for all front-runnen.
SuzuIr.i's Kent Howerton ran a solid
1.% for second in the %5Occ c1aII and
further stretched his points lead with
one round remaining 10 Colorado next
weekend. "I've been practicing on
sand at home, but I couldn't simulate
the heat and humidity.," said HoweJ ton
while hiding under an ~breUa before
the race. "I don't really care how Han·
nab does. He can't catch me in points,
even if he rides like crazy."

500cc winner at St. Pete last year, was
back on form and won moto two.
Danny said it's been a long uphill
dimb to get back into the winner's
circle. LaPorte ended up lleCond overaU for the day, claiming third in moto
one.
After three rounds, GIoftr is already
