in hot pursuit. Avila lost traction coming out of the last turn on the third
lap. went down, and Howard went on
for the win.
Junior rider Buffy McKinney, aboard
her new water-cooled 1l!5 Yamaha,
got thr holeshot in 1l!5cc Novice/Junior
and was never contested for the lead as
she took the checkered flag by ftve
bike lengths. followed by Novice riders
Frank Wisham and Darin Knox.
An up-and-coming rider in the l!5Occ
Junior class - Cunis Pimentel who
went from Novice to Junior in a few
shon months - got the jump off the
line in frOnt of the other riders and
held it to the end of the race followed
by Allen Urias. Curtis also rode his
ftrst race on a 500cc bike and showed
good style by coming from third and
taking the high groove which put him
in ftrst place coming out of the ftrst
turn. It was no easy win, though.
because of the battle put up by
Yamaha-mounted
Mike
Graham
before he made a mistake by going off
the track which cinched the win for
Curtis.
