Add to that the YZ80 to be given away by drawing and the gift certificates from Malcolm Smith's, PJl and Works Performance and it was quite a day. At the riden' meeting the drawing for the YZ was held and Arthur W. Boyd came up with the lucky ticket. Then it was race time. Kerry Sorensen (Yam) grabbed the fint 125cc Beginner holeshot with Greg Broome (Yam) second. Bob Kaiser (Yam) was bad a few spots, but the three of them were soon locked in a tight battle. That gave the lead to Sorensen who held it all the way home. Broome came up from a poor start to finish second and nail down second overall. Willie Stone (Suz) was the man to run off with both motos of the 250cc Beginner class. While he grabbed the holeshot of both rounds, Ralph Turnbull (Yam), Jim Cogley (Yam) and Mark Valentino (Kaw) shuffled around for second. Cogley passed Stone to lead for one lap, but then Stone regained the lead and went on to win. Cogley and Valentino traded second and third place finishes with Valentino getting the position overall. On the Mini side of the fence it was Dino Terracciano who put in the most impressive ride. He topped both motos of the Mini Novice class while Kent Snyder went 2-4 for second place. Finishing third with a 5-2 score was Dale Bolen (Yam). That third place finish was good enough to give Bolen the series win in the Mini class. Bolen walked off with a Bell Mini Moto helmet.
