third. With Clark taking over third,
Simons was working his way up
through the pac~, starting in 10th and
now up to seventh. A rough moto for
Simons. He went down in the esses and
couldn't get his bike to restart. Thinking the day was over for him, he stan·
ed to walk off the track. The next
thing the fans knew, he had remounted
and was giving it one more try. Know·
ing he couldn't compete for a winning
number, Simons pulled by and let the
leaden have all the room they needed.
Changes were taking place every
second with Clark taking over the
lead, Kline running second and Bill
Hagen up in third. Jim Coffey, just
bad after back injuries was running a
superb fourth. When the checkered
flag waved them home, Clark led
acr05a and took second place loot. In
second, Kline still gathered top money
for the etass and Hagen, with a 4-3
ride, took home third overall.
