ting a solid pace with Dale's Modem
Cycle pilot Scon Manning (Yam) close
behind. Griewe bad gOllen off to a
poor start and was deadlocked in fifth
place throughout most of the race.
The rider who was putting in the fast.est lap times was Zinerkopf who bad
started in the middle of the pack and
worked his way up to tbird place by
lap four. Then he slowly reeled in
Manning and Gormley and made it a
three way duel. Throughout the second
half of the race thete was never more
than four seconds separating the trio,
but it wasn't until the 10th lap that
ZitteTkopf passed Manning and ~
malting serious bids for the lead. It
came right down to the checkered flag
with Zinerkopf palling Gormley in the
last tum and tben being repassed a few
feet before the finish line. Gormley got
the win and top money with Zinerkopf
second overall ahead of Griewe. Troy
Manning (Yam) was fourth in thesecond moto after a race·long battle
with Griewe, but Troy had to settle for
fifth overall behind bis brother Scon.
Griewe's luck was much worse in the
Open cIasa. After topping ZitteTkopf in
the fint round, his Maico lost its
carburetor (I) on the second lap of
round two. Then Zitterkopf. who bad
been leadin, anyway, pulled a huge
lead. But With Two-thirds of the .race
over he fell and gave the lead away to
Ronnie Gibson (Mai). Zitterkopf still
got the overall win.
The uSec Pro race was the most in·
teresting of all with Rick Rodgen (Suz)
taking the win with his hand in a cast.
Scott Manning won the tint race, but
spent most of the second round dicing
with Randy Yetto (Yam) while
Rodgen pulled away. Manning even·
tually got second in that moto and in
the overall standings.
