In an International race outside the French town of Sourdeval, Kenney placed fourth overall in the event won by German Ham Maisch. J.N. R.oberu (Hus) won the D·g? desert race hosted by the Master Links M.C. which featured a 45-mile fint loop and a 40-mile-plus-one-lady·withno-clothes-on second loop. Whitey. Martino (Hus) finished second with first 250cc Expen Larry Pfutzenreuter (Bul) third overall. Greg Hawb was first Trailbike and Brent Wallingsford took the overall Novice win on a YamahaATl. BRAD LACKEY Schoolboys were doing the damage at a motocross in Lockhart, TX. High schooler Jad. Hicb took the 125cc Expert class, Houston law student Bob Graham won the 250cc Expen laurels, and Southwest Texas State freshman Jad. O'Leary won the Open Expert go. Speedway season got underway in Costa Mesa and Dave Gifford pulled off an upset in the scratch main, defeating Rick Woods. Gary Fishbum won the handicap main, and Sumner McKnight topped the second division. Rich Bledloe topped the Masters class at the San Diego Trials Riders' Scottish Trials at Ramona, CA. Finishing 2-g in the Masters class were Bob Nic:kelsen and Mark Eggar, while Jim Sheehan won the Expert Division. Amateur Lightweight and Amateur Ultra Lightweight class winners were George Smith III and Bernie Schreiber, respectively. Jocly Nicholas kept on winning in AMA professional half mile racing at Ascot Park. Nicholas qualified his Norton fastest, and then came up a vietor in the Expert main event over Dewayne Keeter. Gary Scott continued along in his habit of taking home the Junior main event. The Novices, however, saw a new winner when Scott Autrey took the checkered first. Mik~ Cram (Mai) won the 500cc Expen class at a CMC motocross at Claude Osteen's Cycle Park in southern California, but not without a big fight from veteran BSA rider Chuck "Feets" Minett, who eventually finished second. Marty Tripes swept the 250cc Pros on a Rickman. Bill Grolli (Hus) dusted off the Open Expen class in a very muddy American Motocross Team benefit at Carnegie Cycle Park in Livermore, CA. Jim DawlOn topped the l25ec Expen class, while John DeSoto, having switched to Maico, took the 250cc Expert class after having troubles in the Open Expert bash. Jim Foley dominated the 250cc Expert main event in a scrambles in Alviso, CA, gunning down Steve Foster and John Gennai, who finished 2-g.
