These Many of the best minicycle racers champions challenged the finest riders stan off in the Pee Wee classes and in America in all classes and it all climaxed on Sunday during the some fine Pee Wee racing took place in this event. One little guy, Ronnie traditional event. the Yamaha Race of Densford. really stood out from the Champions. Arizona's Troy Blake decisively captured the "Champion of rest of the little racers. In the Stock race Chris Pfatenhauer from Las Champions" title in the 80cc class Vegas won the first moto over Densford while Califomian Mouse McCoy and Dustin Evans. Things improved became the Junior Cycle Champion. There were over $10.000 wonh of for Densford as he won the final motor trophies and prizes to be awarded to over Evans and PfatenhaueJ. Overall the class winners 'and this was all made it was Densford. Pfatenhauer and possible by those sponsors who supl!l?n Evans. Densford was on his way to winning the Modified class but was disqualified because he rode his stocker. Evans was given the win while Pfatenhauer, Pfate for shon, was second and Bobby Yorba was third. In the Junior Cycle Stock 6-8 race Shane Britt from Opelika, Alabama took the first moto win. "King Richard" Saxton was second and Tommy Clowers was third. It went in King Richard's favor in the final race as he took the win over Bubba Erickson and Densford. With a 2-1 finish Las Vegan Saxton was the overall winner in front of Erickson and Densford. Britt took the honors in the Modified event over Saxton and Clowers. Shane Sheffield walked off with a couple of king size trophies for his performances in the Junior Cycle Stock and Modified Novice 9·11 races. Mike Brosjean from Bossier City, LA. took second in the Stock class while Chris cole was third. Cole was also second in the Modified event ahead of Danny Hembru. There was a good showing of 100cc class racers from all over. In the Stock class the lead was totally in the hands of Ray Dawson from Lexa. AR, Ray was first in both motos and way out front for the overall win. Califomias Chris Plain, Charles Osterday. and Frankie Brundage placed 2·4 ahead of Brian Carroll who came out from Toowoomba. Australia. Ronnie Lechien surprised everyone as he rode in the loocc Modified class, winning it easily with two first place wins and he was wa,y a~ead of Dawson who took second over Charles Osterday and Chris Plain. Seven run-off events were held because in some classes there were two different divisions. The top riders from each division came together in the run·offs to find out who was the' hest. Gilben Valdez won the 85 StOCk Novice 12 + division one race and now it was time for him to face Ron Rogers who won division two. When the riders took off in the run·offs. Rowland White from Victoria, Australia had the lead on his white Yamaha. White soon lost the lead and went down. Valdez advanced to first and held it to the end ahead of Rogers. Trey McFarland was third in this race while White was seventh but due to a higher previous point total third overall went to the Australian. The day was not over for Rogers. He had the 85cc Modified Novice 12 + race to go. In a much faster class he did bette and was first place in front of Mike Thompson. David Perry was third in this race but Valdez had a bette point finish and went home with the third overall. Intermediates Chris Taylor and Mike Healey were tied with two points as they both won their divisions. When they met in the 85cc Stock 12 + run-off there was bound to be a battle. As they took off it was Richard Fleming and Healey in the lead. These two were on top until they both fell. Taylor took advantage of this and led it from there as Will Tait trailed ahead of Steve Stewan and Eddie Hicks. When the points were added up from this race and the division races, Taylor was the overall winner. Tait came out second best, Dan Hovis was third ahead of Whispem Smith from Midwest City. OK. while Eddie Hicks captured fifth Healey may have gotten a bad break in the Stock class but not so in the Modified run-off. Healey 'was already ahead of the pack on a points margiu and now it was a matter of how he would do in this run-off. He stayed ahead of Hovis, Tait and Taylor. Healey won overall. followed by Tait, Taylor and Greg Thomas from Pine Bluff, AR. When they fired off the gate in the 85cc Stock Expert run-offs, Kenny Dunlap was out ahead of Todd Campbell and Troy Blake. Soon Blake got by Campbell and within time he made the move on Dunlap which put him into the winner's position. Blake won this race but because of his points from the division one race he had to settle for second overall with Sam Storer coming out the best. Storer won the division two event and took a fourth in the fmal. Campbell came out of it all with the third best score ahead of Danny Storbeck and Bobby Moore. Blake may have had to settle for second in the Stock event but it was a different story in the Modified run-off. Blake carried over two points from his division win and was tied with Sam Storer who also won his division. When they met in the big final the win fell into the hands of Blake who led it all. Storer ended up second overall while Bruce Bunch took third. No doubt about it though. the Yamaha Race of Champions pair of events was the main event of the World Mini GP. The 80cc riders had three motos whereas the Junior Cycle champs went for only two motos. Premier Yamaha of Huntington Beach. CA, brought out a huge fleet of new Yamahas for these champions to ride. With everyone riding a completely stock and identical make of bike it would determine just who the fastest ride was.
