Lyle Schoppert had trouble with keeping air in the rear tire on his brand new Maico. He repaired it after practice but pulled off in the· first moto with a flat again. A trip home for a replacement wheel brought him a second moto 250cc Intermediate win. but the overall ,",nt to Louie Swan (Suz). a regular here several years ago. Johny Kelly (Kaw) took home second place brass. One grassy comer got to the 250cc Junior top runners. In the flTSt moto, Jeff Lancaster (Hus) had a big lead until he slid out there and killed his engine. James Neff (Hon) and Ron Kent (Suz) both went by while he kicked and kicked and kicked. Neff had a sizeable lead when he did a circle at the same spot and Kent and Lancaster pulled right up on him. When they all got sorted out Kent led and Neff was back to third. Lancaster took the lead a lap later for the win. The second moto found Lancaster in front all the way and Kent was sec· ond. Neff had Some problems with the mud this time but wound up third. New sections at Woodland MX By Jan Newman WOODLAND, WA, MAR. 14 "Dangerous" Dave Eakin got loose with the Cat again this week. He apparently took a wrong tum in the wooded section and just wandered around until he found his way out. Seriously, he created some great new sections, but those who may have thought they had the track wired almost had to stan out with a road map. Wary parents, accustomed to the old track. had to walk bad to see what was keeping their super Ir.ids 50 long in the woods because lap times were considerably longer. Arne Hettman (Hon) and Jim Anderson (Yam) led the first 250cc Pro moto. On the second lap, Rowdy Blasdell (Hus) was pushing hard enough to move both Anderson and himself by Hettman. In another lap, Blasdell had the lead, but Anderson wasn't giving up. He nagged Blasdell bad to second for the last four laps. The second moto was Anderson's all the way after Blasdell took a wild first lap spill in the turn before the double jump and Curtis Kerbaugh (Yam) made a quick choice between hitting Blasdell or his bike. Rowdy got up, but his Husky didn't. Hetcnan filled second for a couple of laps before his DNF. Ken New got well enough acquainted with his new Yamaha to finish second overall. Roben Klemp put his Honda out in front of the first 125cc Pro race while Jim Anderson (Yam) and Gary Harkleroad (Yam) sorted out second over a few laps. Anderson won that battle and set out for Klemp. He won that one, too. Klemp finished second and Brian Hall (Yam) took third. In the second moto. Anderson dominated all the way. Rowdy Blasdell (Suz) managed to figure out how to stay upright long enough to rob Klemp of second and give Anderson a run for his money. Tony Cabodi (Yam) had a change of heart and decided to ride Open Intermediate instead of Junior for the first time today. Jeff Throop (Yam) led the flrst moto for half the way before Cabodi charged by. Cabodi owned the second moto outright. Throop and Howard Howe (Suz) did some exchanging on the second spot before Throop won out. • Results PEE WEE: 1. Justin Sl8(!ning lSuzl; 2. Jemie CIort< lSuzl. JR CYCLE: 1. Billy _ (yoml. MINI JR: 1.
