He did the same for the 125cc hOI until the last half of the last lap of the last moto when he endoed his Yamaha water-heater on a series of whoops. recovering for a third-place finish and RCOnd oYerall 125cc Pro. Another record turnout of riden had a cold. crisp day in which to enjoy the famous Calder Cycle Park track. While Hadlock ran away with the Open lead, Dan Dolley (Yam) staned out in RCODd IJlOt in moto one with Jeff "Crazy" Cloutier (Kaw) initially in third. Howner, Cloutier was on a brand new KX420 that took lOme getting used to. The fim lap he feD twice and circulated in last place for a while. AI McElroy (KTM 495) moved into third and began zeroing in on no.ey', RCOnd place. About midway in the molO. on the steep downhill piYot. McElroy stUffed a wheel under no.ey dumping him in the din and relegating him to founh. Chuck Halcomb (KTM) finished third. Second moto. Hadlock, McElroy and Cloutier gated in that order, circulated that way all moto and finished that way for the moto and the overalls. Hadlock had a little more trouble with the 125,. A couple hOI from Idaho - Derrick Debonette (Suz) and Joe Wright (Hon) - came down to try their luck. Wright holeshot the first moto with Debonette second and Hadlock third. By the third lap. Hadlock UllUJDed the lead. On the eighth Ia{' Debonctte', new Floater challenged for the top IJlOt and he and Hadlock nerfed each other around a bit. But the very agrcsaive Hadlock would not he intimidated and hung in there for the win. Second moto. Rick DeCarlo (Yam) holcshot. but Hadlock picked him off within the first half lap. DeCarlo ran in second for a while until Debonette drove through the field to take over as number two. Right near the end of the moto, Hadlock momentarily loR his concenuation and took his soil sample. settling for a second overaD in dua. The next F1ying W', motocrosa on Apr. 5 wiD he the final event of the series. It will he followed by a big trophy presentation and contingency giveaway at the Iron Hone Casino in Winnemucca. In this case. it's, "He who hesitates loses." Ron Clizbe's few seconds of searching the Skookumchuck River for a good spot to CI'OIlI jUst before the tiebreaker check may have COlt him a fim overaD in the second enduro in a row. Nothing. bowner. can he taken from 200cc A rider Wayne Keezer who was in one minute, 15 seconds after his minute on the tifht, speed section to Ciizhe', one mmute, 54 RCODds. Keezer had his probletnl. a Oat five miles past the gas check in. The Coyote Enduro IJlODIOred by the Roadrunnen is noted for its slippery clay uails. In this event an early Ran helped, as the course quickly deteriorated around creek CI'OIIiDp, mud boles and bop. Riders in the "teen" minutes complained of a 10·minute wait in one of the hangups in the speed section. The course couiIted of 70 miles of milled primitift uaiI. powatine uaiI, logging road and gravel road. One section ran down a flowing creek, occaaionaUy onto the bank. then back into the creek. The entire coune was run at a 15 mph average for the A and Briden and 12 mph for the C riden. With the exception of the final/emergency check, all checks were zeroable by the A and Briden. Of the l!I7 A and Briden. 77 completed the coune. Riding only the first loop of the figure·eight, after the A and Briden. the C riden had a tougher time of it with 52% of the 107 C riden finishing. A four-wheel rally was being held in the forest on some roads common to the enduro. At mile 55.6 (he remembers it weD), Chuck Dederick of the Mt. Baker M.C. became the hood ornament for one of the jeepen. Although his bike was much the wone for the experience, both Chuck and his Timex were still ticking after the event. One rider described the final section as seven miles of slime. The much talked-about bog bole that uapped many a rider consisted of a trail into the creek, off CatDber loga in the bottom of t~e creek and a root on the st~, slick oppOIite bank. Riden were wiDing to help thOle who were stuck, but many saw their perfect score ,lipping away while waiting a chance to crOll. • Results 126 B: 1. Gory Hollll8Ol. 126 A: 1. W.."..
