.Arlaoaa-Soathera Neva.a· "athera Callforala·Arlaoaa·S, 00 0') .... 1-0 ~ < What's mean, green, hot and nasty? A hot new Kawasaki KX 125 being chased by the competition. The Uni-Trak Thl 125 is back-with more power, less weight, and the best suspension ever. We've re-ported and re-piped for more torque as well as more power. The new externally-adjustable aluminum Kawasaki Scott Head missed the weekend wins on a Bult8CO. F.O.R.E. Search and Rescue crews were out to lend a hand if needed, and to coordinate radio communications. The trial also attracted Bill Mettinger of PJl who brought along some contingency goodies. Every rider who finished with a PJI sticker got some free lubricants. PJl will also be supporting Scott Head this year. Scott, riding just his second trial this year since testing the aerodynamic limitations of a Suzuki 450 on air rather than a twisting canyon pavement, was decked out in some new M. Robert riding pants from Europe. He was also trying some new Metzeler trials tires. It just wasn't the IS-year·old Chats· worth resident's weekend. At Saturday's trophy presentation he picked up a three-inch trophy for winning an SCTA trial a few weeks earlier and then watched Dwaine Walters receive a two-footer for runner-up Expert. Walters, who has been coming on strong ever since buying a Bultaco in Colorado last fa II a t the Nationals, placed third on both days. Dwaine, 19, had two wins in four starts going in. Saturday saw just 44 starters at a trial that has traditionally drawn more than one 100 riders including a fair amount of out-of-towners. One familiar visitor, SuTfin' Dan Suffin, cruised into town from northern Cali· fornia to grab a fourth and third in Expert action. Dan started Saturday's contest wearing a chest cassette player and earphones he uses for skiing. Stevie Wonder got the nod for the first loop. Denny Wolfe, riding his first trial in some time, topped V.O.T.E. dubmate Derrick Bernard in Saturday's Amateur tussle. Bernard, who carries the ATA's number one Amateur plate, triumphed on Sunday, to take the overall nod by 2.6 points. Joe Grencius, a winner in his last ride, posted two thirds. Jean Fradette's 3.S point victory over Gil Smith on Saturday was enough to give him overall Senior A. Smith's 3.2 win on Sunday made it a close, just a .6 margin for the weekend efforts. Duane Stone avoided rocks nimbly enough to score 20 and 13 point victory margins in Senior B. V.O.T.E.'s Wayne Scott Kawasaki'd to a pair of Novice wins. Darryl Stone was runner-up both days. David Soma topped yet another Stone, Glen, to win the Beginner class on both days. High fivers would have appreciated the checker plaques bronze painted plaster pieces with a five finger maximum penalty imprint. Pritchard's two Expert victories moved him into the points lead for the 'SI ATA Expert title. After six rides his log reads three wins, two seconds, and a third. Dwaine Walters is in second, with two victories while defending champion Head shows a win and two seconds in his three rides for the year. V.O.T.E.'s decision to continue over· all two-day awards along with the one day trophies enabled Pritchard, Stone, Scott, and Soma to, in effect, post triple victories in one weekend.
