So it is with the Bomber Jacket from the Hein Gericke Leather Collection. If you like style, function, quality and class then you'll like this jacket. In fact, it seems almost wrong to wear the jacket while. riding. Of course it is a riding jacket, but it doubles so easily as apparel for around town wear you may think twice about its primary function. Good quality doesn't come cheap. The jacket has a suggested retail price in the $150 range which may sound a trifle high until the jacket is examined. The leather is American cowhide, vat and tumble dyed to insure an expensive feel and look. Nylon thread is used throughout in stitching. Snaps abound on the waist, neck and collar. A storm flap covers the zipper. Elastic knit cuffs and waist band give plenty of freedom of movement as do the sleeves which are set forward for added comfort when riding. The military flair extends from the epaulets on the shoulders to an outside utility pocket on the left sleeve. The front pockets are duel purpose incorporating slash style for keeping hands warm and cargo pockets with a snap secured flap for carrying odds and ends. The jacket is good for cool weather riding and should be acceptable in cold weather if a fairing is used. The only problem found -- an annoyance really -- was the jacket tended to ride up a bit when riding which exposed the small of the back. The jacket comes in men's sizes 38 through 48 in black or dark brown.
