WOLFCREEK. TX, FEB. 22
With the north Texas motocross
fans being split between two
tracks, the crowds weren't as
numerous; however, the action
was plentiful at WolfCTttk Motocross
once again. In the combined Pro clasa
- run together, scored and paid
separately - "Gassin' Glen" Goodier
(Hon) took top honon as be piloted his
"red rocket" CR450 Pro-Link to con·
secutive motor victories.
The racing was very intense all day
as the Over 50 Intermediates put on a
brilliant show in the morning program.
When all was said and done Jim "Mr.
Cool" Calvert (Yam) was the overall
winner, coming back in round two
when round one winner Charles "Crazy
Man" Nezat (Yam) and Ronnie Mullens
(Hon) collided while exiting a tum on
the final lap of round two. That gave
Calvert the edge in the three-way tie in
moto points. Mullens was second with
his 2-2 tally ahead of Nezat's I-S perfonnance.
The 125cc ~ovice competiton were
out in mass quantities once again as
they went for it in each of their divisions.
Division I was full of surpriaes as Mark
Sanden (Suz) put it together with as-I
effort for the overall win. Second in
the action-filled event was the "underdog" Mark Terry (Suz) who kept pace
brilliantly with the leaden after a long
layoff due to injury. Finishing in third
in the overall was "Mr. Trick" Mark
Withrow (Yam) who won round one
quite easily in round one only to suffer
with a pair of soil samples in topsy
turvy round two.
Division II was a Jeff Barker (Suz)
benefit as he raced well ahead of the
field on the new Suzuki Full-Floater.
Barker was untouchable as he blasted
the troops in each action-packed
round as Jerry Zudta (Suz) and his
Full-Floater applied pressure in second ahead of third-place rider
"Chargin' Chad" Calvert (Yam).
The combined Pro event had few
surpriaes if you're a north Texas moto·
crall fan because one of the most talented up-and-coming riden - "Gassin'
Glen" Goodier (Hon) - proved he still
knows how to lead the pack as he rode
to a pair of brilliant wins. Goodier was
smooth as glass as he rode fluid like
around the coune. Round one was
Goodier wire to wire while in round
two Glen showed a little variety as he
came from behind to take the win
from early leader and second place
fInisher Kevin McMillon who was the
top 250cc rider on his new water-coo1ed
Pro-Link Honda. Third in an event of
rising stan was David Fulu (Hon) who
edged out Tyler's Ken Callison (Yam).
the fourth -place finisher in the hard
fought event.
