OH 43123 419/472-7739 The Tulsa Enduro Riders Association hosted a two-hour hare scrambles at the John link Ranch and riders were greeted with a cold practice session. Today's track was mostly tight woods and creek beds with few places to pass. The tightness of the track and slow speeds help wann up the riders and by' race tim.e most were not wearing jackets. T.E.R.A. always puts on a first-class race and today's was no exception with around 70 riders signing up. somewhat less than expected. The combined Expert class started first and Carlton Curtis. riding a new Kawasaki KX250. took the lead and stayed on the gas all the way to the checkers. One of the closest races of the day was in the 200cc class. The tight track favored the lighter bikes. Boyd Bass, sponsored by McAlester Kawasaki, wasted no time in gassing his new KDX175 into the lead. Following right behind was Suzuki-mounted Kenny Williams. These two quickly moved through the tight course with Bass staying ahead until lap nine of 15 when he stalled in a bog in the creek. Williams was able to get by, bu t stopped at the end of the la p to refuel. Bass. betting on making the 50-mile race on one tank. was able to retake the lead. This lasted for another three laps when Bass stalled in the same mud hole and Williams was able to reo take the lead to the finish. Jerry Atchison. a top A class enduro rider in the Black Jack Enduro circuit. fmished first in the 250cc class. Most everyone enjoyed the day's racing with an appreciation for the work of the Tulsa Enduro Riders Association in promoting this type of racing. SpecIal thanks to the John Zinlr. Ranch for the use of their fine facility and the hilliest, most rock· infested land around. (~); 2. e.n I..ence R_I~I. 250: 1. Jerry Au:hieon; 12. Phillip M~1o; 3. Clyde "ding. OPEN: 1.
