00 0') David Gerig leeds Jeff Jennings in the 250ee Pros at CMC Saddlebaek, Gibson headed both Open Pro molOS but Staten and Lawrence had a few bumps and choice words with each other enroute to splitting the runnerup spot. Lawrence reached the checkers ahead of Staten in moto two and went home with the number twO money. Husky rider Jeff Jennings picked up fourth behind Staten and Juan Benavidez rode his Yamaha to fifth. Johnny O'Mara looked set to reel off another 250cc Pro win at SSM but a flat tire at the start of the second molO ended his win streak. O'Mara topped the field in race one with Honda support rider Jim Tarantino picking up the number two Slot ahead of Honda rider Brian Maloney and Yamaha riders Craig Gormley and Don Griewe. O'Mara pulled the holeshot in molO two but never completed the first lap as his front tire went flat. Tarantino quickly moved into the lead and opened up a safe gap between himself and the pack. Following Tarantino to the checkers and second overall was Maloney while Griewe picked up third place and Gormley fourth. Suzuk.i rider Ron Turner used his experience and the superior power of the new RM water-pumper to pull away with the win in the 125cc Pro class. Yamaha's newest molO sensation, Erik Kehoe, kept the pres· sure on the fleet Turner but Radical Ron neve.r looked better or faster as he knifed his way through lapped riders enroute to sweeping the race. Kehoe crossed the line in second as Turner's Suzuki teammate Bob Elliott cruised in for third ahead of La Habra Yamaha rider Mike Beier and Suzuki R&D champ George Holland. Results OPEN PRo: 1.
