Round two saw Saxton grab the
holeshot with Simons, Moscrop, Darel
Francis and Whelchel in tow. Lee got
out in eighth on the first lap, and had
to work his way inside the top five. Sax·
-ton held off Simons for the first half of
the moto, but the B&G Lubricants
rider soon slipped past and into the
lead. Although Saxton tried to hang
on in second, Simons was too much for
him to handle. At that point, Saxton
still had the overall win if he finished
sec.ond, but Whelchel moved in from
behind, and had other plans. He
followed Saxton for only one lap
before nailing him in the back section,
and with that pass, he gave Simons a
shot at the overall. The checkered flag
came out with Simons way out in front
of Welchel, Saxton, Francis and Lee.
Overall it was Simons. Saxton, Lee,
Jones with a second moto sixth and
Whelchel.
