rstltlon Mountain - Jean - Rand lIIIounta Garner Palenske triumphed in the 250cc class. beating out Randy Liebig. First 250cc in the event was jay Tullis with a score of 4: 163. Carl Aastrom was second and Garner P. was third. Tracy Walters was the first 200cc class rider with a score of 5:245. Paul Peterson was second and jerry Bailey third. Harry Keast was the top Senior in the evertt. followed by Ron Fry and Tom Getzfrid. The B riders were led by Kevin Stool on a 250cc. who had a score of 7:412. Wendy Pravda was the top woman rider in the event. Eddie Rock was the first Crider. Riding an open-size KTM, he received a score of 3: 195. Larry Roeseler led the Sunday-only entrants with a score of 1:43. The first District 37 enduro event of 1981 will be the United Enduro Association's Silver Dollar/Tuff E Nuff Enduro on jan. 3 (yes, a Saturday. so you can be snug at home for the football games on Sunday). Results in next issue. Munyon tops Bad Mountain By Helen Ajay RED MOUNTAIN. CA. NOV. 16 The Checkpoints. sponsors of the Bad Mountain Enduro, were amazed. They had laid out a course so tough that they thought the winning score would be at least 15 points. But AA riders Rick Munyon and john Fero lost only six and seven points respectively and grabbed the top two places in the event. Tom Webb. sixth overall in the event. clinched the Number One Open title for 1981 with this ride. Tracy Walters used his new KDX to win the 200cc class and take fifth overall. The second loop began with a 36 mph "motocross" section 4.2 miles long that had been used in the Shamrocks' ISDT Qualifier. Those A riders who lost only one point in this section considered themselves lucky. Two riders, Open A Mark Heacox and Open B Dick Myers. managed to zero the secĀ· tion. The third loop contained the several "friction-free" downhills that the club had promised. The "Bad Mountain" of the event is otherwise known as the Invaders' downhill. There was also a difficult uphill on the third loop that gave the 175s fits. Some pushed over it or took 5-10 tries to make it. Some wisely went around the darn thing. Another feature of the third loop was a virgin rock canyon, 1.2 miles long. called the "sluice box." It was reported that Tom Webb took an eightminute rest here. Averages on the third loop were fast, but resets allowed the riders to get back on time. Bob Brooks was first Open A, losing nine points. First 250cc A was Mike Garrett. First Senior A was Pete Smith. Don Merritt was first Senior B. Douglas Clark was the first Open B. Right behind him was the first 250cc B. Mark Cook. First C overall was Kurt Butler on a 175. jeff Brake was first Open C. Candy Hand led the women in the event. Gene Overen was first Senior C.
