David McGhee off the course and Cun McCuistion turning his Kawasaki loose and taking over second. George Holland, Jr., aboard a Suzuki, and McGhee rounded out the top four. Roben Reisinger, who had a rough stan, turned the gas on and pushed his Yam· "aha up through the ranh and into founh by the end of the moto. The second moto found McCuistion leading until a bail-off over the handlebars let him back and gave Magoo an!! his Honda the lead position. Holland, McGhee and David Beier followed in second, third and founh. McCuistion was absolutely o\ltrageousl In fifth and trying to pass Beier, he clipped Beier's rear tire, causing a chain reaction in front of him of one fender bender afther another. All three men barely maintained control. w.hile in pursuit of Ma~. McCulStI~m, riding for KawasakI, ~as slamming into every benn and again almost took Beier out with him in a passing attempt. McCuistion, up to founh, was out to take McGhee and tried for his favorite pass on the inside. McGhee buckled under the pressure, and went down. Magoo had managed to escape some of the madness with a nice lead and left a fight to the end for second between Holland and McCuistion. When the checkered flag signaled an end to the race, Magoo sailed across to an overall win, Holland took down . second place money by thr~ .and onehalf bikelengths and McCUlStlon came home to third overall. Roben Reisinger, riding a Kawasaki for Team Montoya, collected a beauriful pair of back-to-back wins in the 250cc Pro class. The first moto saw Reisinger take the holeshot. Will Harper (Mai). was strong and steady in second until ~ a silencer and being forced back 10 the pack. Wayne Reid was there and ready to ease into second and soon found a battle on his hands with Michael Monghan that followed them down to the wire. Reisinger led all the way. The second time off the line, Reisinger again took command with Harper, Verg Butler and Stev~ Blazek holding down the second, thIrd and founh slou respectively. As Reisinger opened up a commanding lea~, Blazek and Monghan were engaged In a heavy duel for founh. Reid, who was set back in 12th on the stan, was burning up the track and now in sixth. juan Benavidez (C·A), who finished the first moto in seventh and went down .~on the first lap the second time out, was DOW in founh and having an incredible ride, fighting Harper for third. Benavidez took over third and set out to • take second from Butler. A wheel·to· wheel duel went down between these two and Benavidez won out. Harper and Butler continued to dud for third with less than two bikelengths between them, down to the wire. When the finish line loomed in sight, Reisinger, with a 20-second lead, led the way. Harper (5·5) finished the day with second overall and Monghan took home third place money with a 5-5 ride. ft Results ao BEG: 1. T..... _lVoml; 2. Rich _lVoml. ao NOV: 1. Tim RuIherfotd 1~1; 2. Bauer spent little time in working up to second place, where he settled down to watch Griewe's rear fender for most of the race. In the number three spot was a three way dice between Rick Rodgers (Kaw), David Gerig (Hus) and Craig Gormley (Yam). On the third lap, however, Gormley crashed and shonly after that, Gerig's rear brake we',lt away. This gave Rodgers a breathing spell before the next duo of Greg Zitterkopf (Mai) and Andy Orescanin (Kaw) came up to put in a challen~. On.the ninth lap, Zitterkopf moved mto third, but by that time, Griewe and Bauer were out of sight. Bauer had been using the tim.e to size up Griewe and the race for the lead was getting closer with every lap. Bauer finally found an opening and put it to use and through the rest of the moto, Griewe had to be satisfied with second. Mechanical troubles had dropped Zitterkopf to fifth in the late laps and taking third for the moto was Rodgers over a close Orescanin. Round two was the moto for Gormley to prove what he could d~. He was out of the money due to hIS DNF in round one, but he held it wide open anyway, nailing the holeshot and running away from the pack. Bauer was a secure second in the early laps, but Rodgers, Orescanin and Griewe staned gaining gtound in the end. The rest of the race was relatively uneventful. Griewe couldn't put in a ride to match his first moto when he joined the Gerig school of thought and lost his brakes. Orescanin passed Rodgers and made a stab at doing the same to Bauer, unsuccessfully. So the order at the finish was Gormley with a 20second lead, Bauer, Orescanin, Griewe and Rodgers. This gave Bauer the win over Griewe, Orescanin and Rodgers. The Mini Beginner class was large and competitive. First moto winner Ban Pitu (Hon) didn't finish the second race, while Chris Dominguez combined a 2-1 to take home top brass. Second overall went to Bill Bearse with a 5-2 score, topping Ray Chambers' 5-5 and Anthony Frenches' .-•. Rounding out the top five was Dave Bernard (Suz) with a sixth and a fifth. bofore _ . ~ - pertonnenc:e _ pluIic Improvwnem owr conwntfon" motorcycle _ .
