Due to increased popularity of the mid-size class motorcycle, 500-750cc range, the National Motorcycle Racing Association has established a new class. It will feature motorcycles similar to the existing Pro Stock class with a maximum engine size of 760cc. The maximum carburetor size is limited to 34mm with a maximum cam lift of .450. Wheelbase will be restricted to 4" less than current Pro Stock rules, and no models older than 1978 will be permitted in the c1ass. The Super Modified c1ass will be iJIc1uded in the accumulation of points counting towards the coveted 1981 NMRA Manufacturer's Cup. Points in the NMRA Manufacturer's Cup race are awarded to the motorcycle manufacturer via class wins and category victories at the NMRA National eveDts and NHRA events in the Pro Stodt, Super Stock, and Stock categories of competition, in addition, to the new Super Modified category based upon the use of current year motorcycles. Saddleback Park is hard at work de· signing a new motocross track to complement the International course. Helping with the design is three-time National Champ Tony DiStefano. The ~ track is scheduled to be unveiled at the big event planned for early December. Saddleback Saturday. Motocross will have a $1200 Pro purse on November 8. The Pro motos will be 40 minutes long, and the track will incorporate most of the features used for the Nationals. •
