Box 1109, BuIfBIo, NY 14240 By Action OZ WASHOUGAL, WA, SEPT. 28 Washougal's mystical luck continues to hold as track surface give up full traction. It rained the night before and it even spilled lightly Sunday morning. George Howland got practice off the line precisely at 8;30 a.m. and the rooster tails of mud caused a few riders to reconsider the situation. Most of these were Junior and Intermediate riders, however, as the Pros were hot to get on the track and try the uphill. Jimmy Anderson, riding for Vancouver Yamaha, had his race face on as he destroyed both the 125 and 250cc Pro classes. Jimmy is healthy again and is showing the form he has had in the past. Tim Michlitseh, a team Yamaha support rider out of Santiam Yamaha, played with the Open Pro class and won it in the second moto. By the time the 125cc Pros came to the stadium starting gate, the traction was beginning to happen. Anderson came off the line close to the front and before the nearly mile in length lap was over, he had the lead. Phil Oveland (Hon) riding a used, but new to him, Honda led for part of the moto, but lost ground to Jimmy because his stock tire didn't have quite the compound to stay in front. Mike McCormick, riding for Santiam Yamaha, blazed his way into third after a couple of laps and stayed there till moto's end. Billy Joyce (LOP Yamaha) was a definite threat as he moved into second and displaced Oveland to fourth place by moto's end. Meanwhile, Anderson was pulling out a wide lead and hit the flag with 12 seconds to spare. The second moto was a repeat for Jimmy but the rest of the pack went through a few changes. Oveland hung in, this time, for a second finish. Due to the drying out of the track, his tires were better able to do the job and the rest was up to him. McCormick was consistent and hit the flag again in third for the same overall. Joyce dropped to sixth on the second go around and got a fourth overall. Robby WatHo, riding for R.W. Racing on a Yamaha, combined a 6·4 for fifth overall. Watilo has not been in the Pro class too long and is already making a strong showing for himself. Robby should prove to be one of the North· west's top Pros if he continues to improve as he has this season. Jimmy Anderson (Vancouver Yamaha) put his motorcycle in front in the 250cc Pro class and held it the first moto. He had his work cut out for him as Tim Michlitseh (Yamaha Support/LOP) wanted the /{Teen also.
