MX season ends
By Rod Eschenburg
CHULA VISTA, CA, SEPT, 24
The biggest MX season in Speedway I1Ts history came to a close
last Wednesday night as the San
Diego area night motocross riders
received over $600 in trophies, jackets,
and merchandise awards from CocaCola, DG, Factory Rider, Bel-Ray,
and IRC for their efforts in the
marathon 24 week series.
The outstanding classes had to be
the Mini, 125cc, and 250cc Juniors
where over 50 riders in each division
battled right down to the wire for the
top five places. The Pros and Intermediates were out in force too, with
record numbers of riders competing in
those events as well. Speedway 117
wishes to thank all riders participating
this year for their outstanding efforts,
In addition to the KPRI Jump-Off
contest, which was won by Rick Johnson, on the final night, a full program
of MX and ATC races were run with
several riders who were "frozen" in
their respective classes for the duration
of the series making their debut in the
up-graded divisions a 'successful one.
Outstanding were Town and Country
Kawasaki rider David Crowson who
went two for two in the 125cc Intermediate class and Chuck Kecskes who
did likewise in the 250cc Intermediates.
Thanks ladies and gentlemen; we will
see you next year .
