Peterson pops for four at CAfC Ascot By Tom Corley GARDENA, CA, AUG. 20 Todd Peterson has just returned from a racing trip in Utah. It was his most successful event ever as he won some big money by sweeping more than one class against the competition. Here at Ascot he picked up two more wins by defeating the 125 and 250cc Pro classes. Peterson won every moto. But in each class Tim Lunde was either in the lead for a short while or trailing by just a few bikelengths. In the 125cc Pro class Peterson didn't get either holeshot but worked his way up to first. Lunde followed him in second 'the whole time. Whent he money was handed out it was Peterson, Lunde, Doug Bowers and BryanJordan. The 250cc Pro class was quite similar to the 125cc race. It was a three way battle in the first moto with Peterson 'In top and Tim Lunde in second whih.. his brother Chuck was third. Tim Lunde grabbed the lead in the second mota but wasn't able to hold it for long. He was hauling down a straight section and went into a wild wheelie when he shifted. His back tire must have gotten too much traction and at this' point Todd made his move. Peterson took over first ahead of Tim and Jeff Jennings, who hasn't been out in some time, was third. On the payoff list it was Peterson, Tim Lunde, Jennings and Chuck Lunde. "Rick Johnson continues to be the quickest 250cc Junior rider around. He won the second division with a 2·1 score. Ted Hammer aced Rick out in the first mota but DNF the last race. Rick took the final mota win in front of Gungie Strauss, Jeff Utterback and Steve Wolcott. The 125cc Junior class had a new winner, Bill Thiebert (Kaw). In the first moto Skip Early took the win and Bill was third. Thiebert got the holeshot in the second mota and looked ba'ck to see how he was doing. He was well out front of Mike Allen who was in second but was no threat to Bill because Mark had a bad first moto score. Winning the overall trophy was Thiebert, followed by Early, Lee Webster, Rob Moore and Eddie Ramirez. • Results MINI 50 JR: 1. Ch
