Parker into turn three. Pearson
'gra bbed the lead momentarily until
Parker took his high line show to turn
three and blew by all . The leading trio
had pulled away from the rest of the
l ield by lap nine.

Gary Scott, Shobert and Kidd had
tlieir own second pack battle going
ahead of Poovey, Graham and Eklund
In another pack. The fourth pack had
Rainey
leading
Romero
and
Schaeffer. Shobert went down on lap
10 when he slipped off the groove and
rider ticked his handlebars as he
m oved back onto the freeway .
Most, if not all eyes were on the leading trio as the y continued to shuffle
and then shuffle again. Pearson, with
the least mile experience, lost ground
after a slip off the groove , letting
Poovey close and then pass to add a
new face in the run for the lead. Kidd
then took advantage of Pearson's slip
