lIthern Nevada-Southern Call ; III ., Juniors again steal Speedway 1. 1. 7/ CokeMX . • ~ t o 00 By Rod Eschenburg 0') CHULA VISTA. CA , AUG . 13 1""'4 It may have been Continental Moto-sports Club Pro points night at Speedway 117 but the way the Juniors ran you would think it was WWII with the original casd W ildest of the wild was the 250cc Juniors with a three , way tie-breaker going down as Mike Borun parlayed a 3- 1 effort to win over Coca-Cola point leader Chuck Kecskes' 2·2 go and Steve Bol~r's 1-3 finish. The first mota had It looking like Bolger (Ya m ) was going to repeat his fine Carlsbad win of last Sunday as he led Kecskes (Han) and Borun (Yam) all the way 'even after holeshot king Borun grabbed an early lead with one of his super numbers. , but in the second round Borun once again zapped th e field and went wire to wire for the overall. In the 125ccJuniors , a 17 rider field thras hed and bashed around for two motos with the a lways steady riding Scott Bowman picking u p th e win with a 2-1 effo rt over Tim Earl's 4-2 and J im Klocksieben's 1-5. In the Pros Yamaha-mounted Robbie Nolin scored a come from behind tie -breaker win over Eric Ba ker in the 1255. In the 2505. Honda-mounted Kirk Grissom went two for two in rela tively easy fas hion as the big race was for second with visiting CMC 1980 250 Pro po int leader Sco tt Johnson finally getting the hang of Speedway 117 for a hard fought second place over Bill Curran. The 500c c Pros were all Randy Norman with a real "wa r" for second though as Lars Larsson and Lynn Vick engaged in a real bar-banger for runner ·up spot with Larsson taking the second spot. Larsson had to do it as son Lars Eric , Jr. took a tie-brea ker Pee Wee win over Norman Gauman to grab the 'l ami e Canney Bounty Trophy" in the Pee Wees. Canney, who had just re o turned from the NMA Na tionals in Ponca City, OK" at 2:00 tha t afternoon. looked to be the easy winner once again in the first mota u ntil a slide down and a shorted plug sidelined her. She roared back in th e second mota after a half lap win , but the DNF in the first round wiped her ou t as Larsson squ eaked out a tie breaker over "Stormin " Norman Gaumond. ...
